ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY & SUPPLY CHAIN INTEGRITY: A COMMITMENT TO ETHICAL TRANSPARENCY

DATE: FEBRUARY 2025

At Intrigue Noire, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on both your well-being and the planet. Our approach to sustainability focuses on using natural ingredients, minimising chemicals, and embracing eco-friendly packaging to reduce waste and promote a greener future.

1. Natural & Eco-Conscious Ingredients

1.1. UK Regulation

We prioritise natural, chemical free ingredients that are gentle on your body and safe for the environment. By sourcing responsibly and avoiding harmful additives, we ensure that our products support both personal health and ecological balance. Our commitment aligns with the UK REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) to ensure safe and sustainable use of substances in consumer products.

2. Packaging Waste Regulations

2.1. Eco-Friendly Shipping & Waste Reduction

In alignment with our commitment to intentional stewardship, we use hand sewn, repurposed fabrics to fill voids when packing orders. These unique pieces are designed for a second life; as scarfs, decorative accents, or another useful creations extending their purpose and minimising our environmental footprint.

2.2. Sustainable Packaging

*We use glass jars and bottles to encourage reuse and recycling, allowing you to repurpose our packaging in your own way.

*Most of our packaging materials are either reusable or recyclable, reducing unnecessary waste in line with the UK.

3. Legal Compliance & Environmental Responsibility

3.1. Compliance with UK Environmental Regulations

We ensure that our practices comply with key UK environmental regulations, including:

*The Environmental Protection Act 1990, which governs waste management and pollution control.

*The Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011, ensuring responsible disposal and recycling of materials

*The Plastic Packaging Tax (2022), by reducing single-use plastics in our packaging solutions.

4. Your Voice Matters

4.1. Our Sustainability Journey & Community Engagement

Sustainability is a journey, and we know there is always room for improvement. If you have any suggestions, ideas, or notice something we might have missed, we’d love to hear from you! Your feedback helps us grow and do better for both our customers and the environment.

Feel free to reach out to us through sales@intriguenoire.com, and let’s work together towards a more sustainable future.

5. Ethical Transparency & Supply Chain Integrity

At Intrigue Noire, we believe that true wellbeing cannot be built on the exploitation of others. As a brand where products are personally formulated by the founder, we maintain for the time being a rare / unique level of direct oversight. Our commitment to "bioavailable" and "conscious" creation means that we recognise that the cosmetic and wellbeing industries face systemic risks to modern slavery.

5.1. The Industry Challenge: A Research Led Perspective

We acknowledge that our industry often hides exploitation behind complex layers. We align our internal risk assessments with the following evidence:

*Supply Chain Complexity: Global networks often mask forced labour (Anner, 2020). We counter this by keeping our supply chain short and direct.

*Raw Material Risks: Materials like mica and certain oils are linked to child labour (Brickell et al., 2018). We mitigate this by sourcing high quality, organic, and traceable ingredients.

*Vulnerable Workforces: Migrant workers are often exploited in large scale manufacturing (Barrientos, 2013). By prioritising small-scale production, we ensure every hand involved is known to us.

5.2. Our Traceable Supply Chain: Seed to Skin

Unlike mass market brands, Intrigue Noire controls the formulation process, allowing us to vet every ingredient at the source:

*Direct Sourcing (Senegal): We source our Moringa seeds and specific butters directly from Senegal. By bypassing multiple middlemen, we ensure fair trade practices and direct support for local harvesters.

*UK Based Formulation: Our supplements are sourced within the UK, with typically higher labour standards and environmental certifications for organic products.

*Low Intervention Wellbeing Tools: Our wellness tools are sourced in small, controlled quantities. While a limited number are sourced from China (for the time being), we maintain a "Low Volume, High Vetting" approach to ensure these partners align with our ethical standards.

*Precision in Formulation: By using specialised concentrations (such as 1–2% essential oils), we reduce the demand for over farmed commodities, focusing on quality and sustainability over mass extraction.

5.3. Purpose-Led Impact (Not Bragging, Just Accounting)

We do not believe in "performative" charity. We recognise that poverty is the primary driver of modern slavery, and we address this through consistent financial support.

A dedicated percentage of all revenue collected is donated to our partner charities in Africa, Romania, and the UK, that support child domestic abuse/human trafficking, ending poverty period.

*Transparency over Marketing: We do not use these causes for "clout."

*Accountability: A detailed End of Year Impact Report is shared with our community via our newsletter and official communiqués. This ensures our customers see exactly where their money has gone and the tangible change it has fuelled.
